Protect yourself this winter with a flu vaccination
Flu is more than just a bad cold. It can lead to serious illness and complications, particularly for older adults, pregnant women, young children, and people with certain long-term health conditions.
We will be offering NHS flu vaccinations to eligible patients throughout the 2026/27 flu season and will be sending invitations as clinics become available.
Who is eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination?
The NHS flu vaccination programme is available to a number of groups who are at greater risk of becoming seriously unwell from flu. Eligible groups include:
From 1 September 2026
- Pregnant women
- Children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2026
- Primary and secondary school-aged children
- Children aged 6 months to under 18 years in a clinical risk group
From 1 October 2026
- Adults aged 65 years and over
- Adults aged 18 to under 65 years with certain long-term health conditions
- Residents of long-stay care homes
- Carers
- Close contacts of people with weakened immune systems
- Eligible health and social care workers
- People aged 16 years and over who are rough sleeping or using homeless hostels or night shelters.

Booking your flu vaccination
We will send invitations to eligible patients by text message as our clinics become available.
Please use the booking link included in your invitation to select an appointment that suits you.
If you believe you are eligible and have not received an invitation, please contact the surgery.
Have your flu vaccination with us
We are proud to provide flu vaccinations to our patients each year. If you are eligible, please consider booking your flu vaccination at the surgery when you receive your invitation.
Choosing to have your vaccination with your local practice helps support the services we provide and allows our team to continue delivering vaccination clinics for the community we serve.

Housebound patients
We will be contacting housebound patients by text message to ask whether they would like to receive their flu vaccination this year.
Our clinical team is planning to carry out home visits from mid-October onwards for patients who would like to receive their vaccination at home.
If you are registered as housebound and do not receive a message from us, please contact the surgery.
Care home residents
We will be working closely with local care homes to arrange flu vaccinations for eligible residents.
Care homes will be contacted during September regarding consent arrangements, and our clinical team will then arrange visits to administer vaccinations within the care home.
Children's flu vaccinations
Children aged 2 and 3 years may be vaccinated through the practice.
Most school-aged children will receive their vaccination through the school immunisation programme.
The children's flu vaccine is usually given as a quick and painless nasal spray rather than an injection.
