Tier 3 Weight Management Service
The Tier 3 Weight Management Service is a free NHS programme that helps adults who are finding it hard to lose weight. It’s for people aged 18 and over who have a BMI over 40, or over 35 if they have certain health conditions like diabetes or joint problems.
The programme lasts around six months and is run by a team of experts including dietitians, doctors, psychologists, and fitness specialists. Support is given in small private groups or online, and focuses on:
-
Healthy eating
-
Getting more active
-
Understanding emotional eating
-
Making long-term lifestyle changes
-
Medical check-ups and reviews
It’s designed for people who haven’t had success with other weight loss programmes and need more specialised support.
How do I join the Tier 3 Weight Management Programme?
If you meet the referral criteria you can be referred to the Tier 3 Weight Management Service by your G.P. or a healthcare professional.
You may also be eligible for support through this programme if you have already had bariatric surgery provided by the NHS.
Self-referrals to the service are not accepted at this time.
